Seminar: Southeast Asian Scripts: From the Centers to the Margins – 21 April

From Ryan Wolfson-Ford –  Southeast Asia reference librarian at the Library of Congress.—-
I wanted to bring to your attention an upcoming talk: “Southeast Asian Scripts: From the Centers to the Margins”. It will be held on April 21 from 12:00 to 1:30 pm EDT.

Registration is via the following Zoom link: https://bit.ly/3t8Fu2N.

The talk will cover endangered scripts in Southeast Asia touching on cases at the centers (e.g. Bali) and the margins (e.g. Hmong and Karen). The speaker Tim Brookes has a unique insight into writing as an art form and its wider socio-cultural dimensions. He also heads up a non-profit creating educational materials in lesser-known languages.
